History of the Hoyo de Monterrey brand

The name Hoyo de Monterrey comes from the town of San Juan y Martinez, located in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region. The Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the great Vegas Finas de Primera, can be reached through a gate from the town's main square. The inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860".

Hoyo' literally means 'sink' and in this case describes the deep location of the plantation on the fertile banks of the river San Juan y Martinez.

José Gener, a native Spaniard from Catalonia, was the first to use the name of his Vega as a brand name for Habanos in 1865.

Character of the Hoyo de Monterrey cigar

The taste of Hoyo de Monterrey makes it a popular choice for all those who are looking for a fine yet aromatic Habano that is light in taste, but with great elegance and complexity.

The best known formats are the Double Corona and the Epicure No. 1 and 2, but there is also a selection of Vitolas with medium and small ring sizes - the Le Hoyo series.

All formats are 'totalmente a mano, tripa larga' - completely handmade long fillers
