History of the Montecristo Open brand

Alonso Menéndez had the ambitious goal in 1935 to set a new standard in the Cuban cigar world with the Habanos brand Montecristo. Only the best tobaccos were used for Montecristo and the equipment of the boxes and belly bands was also of the highest standard. Montecristo quickly became a bestseller and is now considered the most famous and popular Habanos brand in the world. Now, 74 years later, the Montecristo Open again sets new standards! Habanos s.a. has therefore created a second line in four formats.

Character of the Montecristo Open Cigar

The tobacco blend for Cuban cigars is exceptionally filigree, its style is refreshing and light. Montecristo Open is particularly suitable for beginners in the world of Habanos or lovers of milder premium cigars from the Caribbean. But Montecristo Open also expands the spectrum of possibilities for Habanos lovers. Be it as a cigar for the earlier hours of the day or as a particularly combinable companion for elegant wines and spirits. The origin of the tobaccos corresponds to the claim and tradition of the brand: all leaves come from the plantations of the Vuelta Abajo region, the home of tobacco, which is among the best in the world. In keeping with the centuries-old Cuban tradition, the four new formats are produced entirely by hand in the H.Upmann manufactory in Havana "totalmente a mano". On the other hand, the design of the packaging and the cigar rings sets new accents. An elegant, dark green complements the traditional yellow of Montecristo. Four contemporary formats have been created for the Montecristo Open line to appeal to modern cigar lovers. They are easy to smoke and have excellent draught characteristics.
